Maintain a healthy weight and be physically active. Improving your diet is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy, and certain foods can affect your risk of cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends eating a healthy diet, with an emphasis on plant foods. Eat at least 2½ cups of vegetables and fruits a day and minimize your intake of processed meats, such as sausages and cold cuts.
If you eat meat, choose fish, poultry, or lean cuts of beef.
